Launched in 2019, the application has been developed to help patients to send feedback to their healthcare organisations.
Patient can use Patient Voice to comment on the quality of healthcare they are receiving. Healthcare organisations can login, read the patient feedback and then use it to shape and improve their care services.
Patient Voice uses 10 different communication channels to obtain feedback from patients. Healthcare organisation can customise the feedback form or they can use the default NHS Friends and Family Test.
Almost all of 50,000 CQC healthcare organisations are registered with Patient Voice. The application has been warmly received by both the healthcare organisations and their patients.
Through our experience of working as consultants in the NHS we identified a need to support local engagement and to explore the link between staff engagement and the quality of care delivered to our patients. We also wanted to provide a platform for reporting of positive staff experiences to share and learn from.
We found that encouraging and supporting distributed decision making was key to improving staff engagement. Our real-time staff feedback system and training has been designed to support this aim.
SPEaC allows staff to voice both their positive experiences, or concerns and frustrations anonymously and in real time creating a heat map of an organisation and gives a voice to all staff regardless of role or seniority.
